After looking around the web and considering other javascript html editors I've found that while there are some very good products out there they seemed to have two problems.  One, they were not nearly as "light-weight" as they claim to be (I guess thats a relative term) or two these editors just did way more than I needed for my application.  After much frustration I finally decided to build my own which was better suited for smaller needs, or integration with other applications. 

There may be more of you out there who are having the same problem so I've decided to release the new editor along with its source code for you to modify, or use as is on your site. 

Speck Edit includes only four files when deployed to your site:

• speck.js - The main editor javascript file.
• speck.gif - All the images used for the buttons and toolbar.
• speck.css - The stylesheet for the editor.
• editstyle.css - This is the style to use for the text which is being edited.  You may just edit the code to reference the main stylesheet from your website. 

Version 1.0 of these four files only total 31kb in size uncompressed and commented.  Of course, the minified, packed, gzipped versions are much tinier.
